A key moment in his burgeoning political career was the countrywide protest he spearheaded against rising commodity prices, aptly named “Price of Commodities Must Fall.” This initiative highlighted his commitment to grassroots issues and mobilized public support.

His dedication extended beyond the campus. Ongom served as president of the Uganda Young Democrats (UYD) at Kyambogo and as a national footsoldier for the Uganda National Students’ Association (UNSA). This prowess, coupled with his ongoing studies at the Socialist Democratic Institute, solidify him as a political scholar and strategist.

Currently, Ongom is vying for a Male Youth Councillor position in Lira City under the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) ticket. His impressive track record, encompassing student activism, impactful protests, and leadership roles, paints a picture of a dedicated and accomplished young leader poised to contribute meaningfully to local governance.
