UPC GEARS UP FOR 2026 ELECTIONS IN ACHOLI SUB-REGION FOLLOWING KEY MEETINGS

FULL STORY!!

Kampala, Uganda – The Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) is solidifying its position in the Acholi Sub-Region ahead of the 2026 general elections. A significant meeting held on Monday in Kampala, attended by UPC party president Jimmy Akena Obote and Secretary General Hon. Fred Ebil Ebil, focused on strategizing for the upcoming polls. A key participant was Hon. Apili Joy Cinderella Acellam, a prominent UPC member and aspiring Woman MP for Nwoya District, who discussed the progress of UPC candidates across the region.

The meeting provided a crucial platform to assess the party’s readiness and address specific challenges. A major highlight included the welcoming of Hon. Okot Kenneth, who has switched allegiance to the UPC after expressing dissatisfaction with the alleged irregularities during the National Resistance Movement (NRM) primary elections in Kilak North, Amuru district. He has been confirmed as the UPC flag bearer for MP Kilak North Constituency for the 2026-2031 term.

This move by Hon. Okot Kenneth, coupled with the strategic planning sessions involving key party figures like Hon. Acellam and the party leadership, signals a strong UPC push to reclaim lost ground and make significant gains in the Acholi Sub-Region come 2026. The party is optimistic about its prospects, driven by the renewed commitment of its members and strategic alliances like the one with Hon. Okot Kenneth.
