Prime Minister Robbinah Nabbanja has officially launched the construction of a majorly upgraded Buseruka Health Center in Hoima, a project set to cost UGX 5.9 billion for building work. This significant initiative will transform the facility from a Health Center III to a more advanced Health Center IV, providing enhanced medical services as Uganda gears up to co-host the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2027.
The UPDF Engineering Brigade is undertaking the construction, promising completion in an impressive six months. This rapid execution ensures the facility will be fully operational well in advance of AFCON 2027. Beyond the construction, the government is also dedicating an extra UGX 2.3 billion to fully equip the health center with modern medical tools and facilities, making it ready to serve the community comprehensively.
Speaking to residents and local leaders, PM Nabbanja highlighted the government’s substantial investment of over UGX 500 billion across the Bunyoro region. She praised President Museveni’s vision, which has brought numerous transformative projects to the area. These include the Hoima City Stadium, Kabalega International Airport, new oil roads, a training facility, and the upgrade of Hoima Regional Referral Hospital. Such initiatives are designed to profoundly improve the lives of people in the region.
Hoima District Chairperson, Uthuman Mugisha Kadiri, expressed gratitude for the government’s focus on Hoima. He also took the opportunity to advocate for increased access to piped water in Buseruka and Kabale Sub-counties, addressing a pressing need for the local population.
