Police in Adjumani District have begun investigations after a 34-year-old police recruit, Solomon Obudra, died during a physical fitness test at Paridi Stadium. The incident occurred on November 6, 2025, while more than a thousand applicants were taking part in the recruitment exercise for Special Police Constables.
According to authorities, Obudra—who hailed from Angwarapi East Village, Miniki Parish, Dzaipi Sub-county—collapsed shortly after completing a two-kilometer run, one of the mandatory physical fitness tests for applicants.
He was quickly taken to Adjumani General Hospital for treatment, accompanied by his brother Vincent Alaru Moini, who was also among the applicants. Unfortunately, despite medical intervention, Obudra was pronounced dead later that evening at around 8:20 PM.
Police were notified immediately, and a formal investigation was launched to determine the cause of his death. Superintendent of Police Collins Asea, the Public Relations Officer for the North West Nile Region, confirmed the tragedy, calling it “a very unfortunate incident.”
He stated that a death investigation file has been opened and that a postmortem examination will be conducted to establish the exact cause of death. SP Asea extended his condolences to the deceased’s family and urged all applicants in future recruitment drives to undergo medical checkups and physical preparation before participating in demanding physical tests.
As of now, the body of Solomon Obudra remains at Adjumani General Hospital Mortuary pending a full postmortem report. Police continue to investigate the incident to ensure transparency and to assess whether proper safety measures were followed during the recruitment exercise.
