Shock and Confusion as Senior Six Candidates Sit for Wrong 2024 Exam Paper During 2025 UACE Exams

A wave of confusion swept across several examination centers on Wednesday after Senior Six candidates reportedly sat for a 2024 examination paper instead of the scheduled 2025 Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) paper.

According to reports, the incident occurred during the ongoing national exams administered by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB). The affected students and invigilators were left puzzled when they noticed that the paper presented to them bore the year 2024.

Teachers and school administrators immediately raised concerns, fearing that the mix-up could affect the credibility and fairness of the ongoing exams. Some candidates said they were caught off guard and panicked, unsure whether to proceed with answering the paper or wait for clarification from UNEB officials.

UNEB has since acknowledged the matter and launched investigations into how the outdated exam paper found its way into this year’s examination session. Officials assured the public that the issue will be handled promptly and that no student will be penalized for an error that was not their fault.

Parents and education stakeholders have called on UNEB to strengthen its exam management procedures to prevent similar mistakes in the future, emphasizing the importance of maintaining trust in the country’s education assessment system.

The UACE exams, which determine university admissions and higher learning placements, are still ongoing across the country.
