The spirit of devotion to country is alive and thriving at Aduku Senior Secondary School in Kwania District, where a transformative journey recently reached a powerful milestone. In an inspiring display of commitment, one hundred and sixty students have successfully completed an intensive one-month Patriotism Course, marking their transition into young citizens who carry the heart of Uganda in everything they do. This prestigious passing out ceremony was overseen by Isaac Mweru Hirya, the Assistant Resident District Commissioner of Kwania, who served as the guest of honor for this landmark occasion.
Since the program was established at the school in 2023, it has become a cornerstone of the institution’s identity. Daniel Isaac Olola, the dedicated Patriotism Patron at the school, shared with pride that they have already shaped the lives of over seven hundred students through this initiative. By focusing on the core values of discipline, relentless hard work, and a genuine desire to serve the community, Aduku Senior Secondary School has firmly established itself as the leading institution in the district for fostering patriotic excellence.
The impact of this training goes far beyond the classroom walls. Headteacher Zeckonia Odama Ajjo highlighted that the program has significantly improved the overall discipline of the student body, which now exceeds one thousand individuals. He noted that the students have wholeheartedly embraced this government-led initiative, recognizing it as a vital tool for building a deep-seated love for their homeland. However, the Headteacher also used this platform to address a pressing concern, calling upon local security forces to tackle the rising crime rates in Kwania, suggesting that the values taught in this program are exactly what the wider community needs to see a reduction in lawlessness.
During the ceremony, Assistant RDC Isaac Mweru Hirya delivered a stirring message to the graduates, urging them to cherish the lessons they learned. He emphasized that the Patriotism Club provides a rock-solid foundation for life by teaching young people to put the needs of Uganda first.
His words were echoed by students like Barbara Ageno and Hudson Okello, who spoke passionately about how the training has changed their outlook on life. These young leaders promised to maintain their discipline and work tirelessly to become the responsible, hardworking citizens that the nation requires. Through programs like this, Aduku Senior Secondary School is doing much more than just educating students; it is building a stronger, more unified, and more resilient Uganda for generations to come.
