Two suspected criminals were shot dead on Monday morning during a targeted security operation in Kaboja A, Kasenge Parish, within Kyengera Town Council, Wakiso District. The joint forces moved in shortly after daybreak, acting on intelligence linking the group to ongoing violent attacks in the area.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, SP Racheal Kawala, the operation was executed at around 8am and was meant to disrupt criminal activity that had unsettled residents in recent weeks. She said the two individuals were killed after security personnel encountered them with dangerous items believed to support criminal operations.
She explained that officers recovered knives, breaking tools, toy guns, and other materials often used in robberies. Security also seized a number of suspected forged documents, including a Uganda Police warrant card bearing the name Byaruhanga Moses, listed as a Senior Traffic Sergeant, and a national ID in the name of Kachingwa Moses.
Police noted that investigations are still underway to confirm the true identities of the deceased and to establish whether they belonged to a wider gang operating around Kyengera.
This incident follows months of reported panga attacks and other violent incidents in Kyengera town council and the nearby communities. In response, security agencies have increased patrols and intensified surveillance to restore calm and reassure residents.
Authorities say they will continue with similar operations as they work to dismantle criminal networks responsible for terrorising neighbourhoods in Wakiso District.
