After serving for eight impactful months, SP Okongo has been transferred to Kabalagala, leaving behind a district that widely praised his outstanding leadership and significant efforts in improving safety and building trust between the police and the community.
During his relatively short but highly effective tenure, Commander Okongo introduced several key initiatives that transformed police operations in Oyam. He was instrumental in establishing a Police Health Centre II, a crucial step for officer welfare, and brought in a specialized canine unit to boost crime-fighting capabilities. Furthermore, his efforts led to the acquisition of a new patrol vehicle, greatly improving the police’s ability to respond quickly to emergencies and maintain order.
The deep respect he earned was evident in the tributes from his colleagues and local officials. ASP Tumuhangirwe Levi, who oversees Oyam Central Police Station, described SP Okongo as a true team player whose inspiring leadership encouraged officers to work with dedication and professionalism.
