Julius Acon Bua has officially been sworn in as the new Member of Parliament for Otuke East, marking the start of his commitment to serving his people. Immediately after taking office, MP Acon made two significant pledges: to aggressively fight corruption and to work hand-in-hand with other key district leaders to ensure better services for Otuke and the entire Lango region.
Acon described corruption as a debilitating disease that prevents progress, explaining that funds meant for essential services and infrastructure are often stolen. He highlighted that every penny diverted by corruption means fewer boreholes for clean water, fewer classrooms for education, and a direct threat to the well-being of the community. He promised to relentlessly demand accountability from all officials and called on the central government to take swift action against anyone involved in corrupt practices.
Understanding that collective effort is crucial for real development, the new MP stressed that he cannot achieve his goals alone. He specifically committed to collaborating closely with Otuke District LC5 Chairperson Francis Abola and Woman MP Susan Jolly Abeja. His plan also includes working with local councillors, sub-county chiefs, and community elders. This unified approach, he believes, will prevent wasted effort, reduce political conflicts, and make sure that government programs and resources reach the most vulnerable homes without delay.
MP Acon also renewed his promise to continue the community projects he initiated during his campaign. A top priority remains the drilling of boreholes across the constituency, as access to safe drinking water is a major challenge in Otuke. His commitment is to ensure that these vital projects continue to improve the daily lives of his constituents.
