The Office of the National Chairman at Kyambogo has rolled out a new digital system designed to secure votes for the National Resistance Movement in the next elections and boost the tracking of government programmes across Uganda.
The platform, branded as Voters Protection, was introduced by Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, the head of the ONC, during a ceremony attended by State House representatives. She explained that the system was created to address long-standing fears that votes for President Yoweri Museveni have previously been mishandled.
Namyalo said the team is determined to ensure every vote is counted, urging Ugandans to turn up in big numbers during the polls and to help ensure that their choices are protected from any form of interference.
According to ONC officials, the Voters Protection system uses real-time digital tools to mobilize supporters, strengthen grassroots structures, and verify reports from coordinators across the country. The platform will also speed up communication between field teams and the central command.
Beyond securing votes, the same technology will be used to independently monitor government development projects across ministries and agencies. Officials say this will improve transparency and allow the ONC to verify progress reports without relying solely on submissions from local offices.
Namyalo emphasized that government programmes belong to the people and new digital monitoring will make it easier to confirm what is happening on the ground.
She also dismissed social media rumours claiming she had been removed from her role in election activities, calling the allegations false and misleading.
The system will rely on a countrywide network of over 1,200 coordinators. ONC says each village will have at least two trained individuals responsible for mobilizing communities and submitting accurate information on both election matters and project tracking.
The launch of this digital platform marks a significant move toward technology-led political organization and improved oversight of public programmes, highlighting the government’s push for accountability and orderly elections.
