Japan’s Transformative Gift: New Classrooms and Modern Facilities Ignite Hope and Boost Education for Over 1,200 Children in Kwania

The Japanese Embassy in Uganda has significantly enhanced the learning environment at Amorigoga Primary School in Kwania District, through a generous project valued at UGX 330 million. This vital initiative, sparked by a proposal from the school’s Headteacher, Mr. Joel Ayeni, is set to dramatically improve education for more than 1,200 pupils.

The project delivered crucial infrastructure, including a brand-new two-classroom block complete with an office, separate modern toilet facilities for both boys and girls, and 76 new desks to accommodate the growing student population. Additionally, a 500-watt solar power system was installed, bringing much-needed electricity to the school.

Mr. Ayeni expressed profound gratitude to the Government of Japan, emphasizing how these new facilities will create a more conducive atmosphere for learning. He also voiced aspirations for further support, such as school fencing, dormitories, and additional classrooms, to keep pace with the increasing student enrollment.

Local leaders from Kwania District universally praised Japan’s commitment to education. Deputy CAO Robert Okwanga Alem encouraged teachers to maximize the new resources to drive better academic results, helping Kwania compete with other districts. Kwania LC5 Chairperson George Kakoma Akacha lauded the Japanese Embassy for bolstering Uganda’s education sector and investing in the nation’s future.

Resident District Commissioner Richard Arikwanga Noon urged parents and school management to diligently protect and maintain the new infrastructure. He stressed the importance of preventing vandalism to ensure that current and future generations can benefit fully, also calling on teachers to remain dedicated to their important role in educating the children.

Japan’s Deputy Ambassador to Uganda, H.E Yoshida Norimasa, highlighted that this project falls under Japan’s “Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Project,” underscoring his country’s commitment to supporting communities directly. This impactful development was brought to life by Tukiz Construction Company Limited.
