Ajuri County Member of Parliament, Fred Jalameso, recently shared a powerful message in Pallisa, stating that his remarkable victory was not just political success, but a divine plan. He highlighted his unique achievement of defeating his opponent, Hamson Obua, not once, but twice.
Jalameso pointed out that his win was particularly significant because Obua was a very influential figure – a top NRM party official, serving as the government’s Chief Whip and a Vice Chairperson for the Northern region. According to Jalameso, Obua made a critical error by comparing himself to the Holy Trinity, suggesting he was “God the Father” through his Chief Whip role, “God the Son” as an MP, and “God the Holy Spirit” as a party leader. This, Jalameso believes, was seen as a major provocation by the public.
“My victory was clearly part of God’s plan,” Jalameso explained, “He used people to lift me from a humble background to a position of leadership.” He emphasized a key lesson from the Bible, stating, “The Holy Scripture teaches that if a person exalts themselves, God will bring them down. But if you humble yourself, God will raise you up.”
Jalameso delivered these remarks during the funeral of a respected 94-year-old retired teacher, Daniel Emuron, in Pallisa. During the ceremony, a Soroti City official, Mr. Okurut John Micheal, publicly acknowledged Jalameso for his impressive win against a well-known NRM figure.
Despite being a member of the UPC party, Jalameso, who once served as a secondary teacher for fifteen years before entering politics, stressed the importance of unity. He noted that although all the Members of Parliament in Pallisa belong to the NRM party, they are his friends and work together to serve all people, putting humanity above party differences.
The Soroti City official, Mr. Okurut, also used the opportunity to advise newly elected leaders, urging them not to overlook their predecessors but instead to consult them. He highlighted that this approach fosters unity and ensures that all citizens benefit from their leaders’ combined efforts.
