More than a thousand students at Aduku Secondary School in Kwania District recently received important training on how elections work. This special session prepares them for their upcoming school prefects elections and aims to build a strong foundation for future leadership.
Officials from the Kwania District Electoral Commission partnered with the school to teach students about democratic principles, good leadership, proper voting steps, and how to behave once election results are announced. Electoral officers were specially sent to lead this training, showing how serious the school is about ensuring fair and transparent processes.
The training covered crucial topics like ensuring elections are free and fair, understanding the risks of cheating, the vital need to accept results gracefully, and the significant duties that come with being a leader. Experts highlighted that school elections mirror national ones, offering young learners an excellent chance to grasp how democracy functions from an early age. Daniel Isaac Olola, the teacher overseeing elections, explained that Aduku School regularly holds these sessions because they significantly improve student behavior and leadership abilities.
