Honorable David Calvin Echodu, a leading figure in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and the newly elected Member of Parliament for Soroti City West, has significantly supported the upcoming Kabaka Birthday Run. He generously purchased official running kits worth five million Ugandan Shillings (UGX 5,000,000).
The kits were handed over through his representatives, as Mr. Echodu was attending an NRM parliamentary retreat. This annual event is held to celebrate the birthday of His Majesty Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II and, more importantly, to unite men in the urgent fight against HIV/AIDS, with an ambitious goal of ending the epidemic by 2030.
This year’s run is centered around the theme ‘Men for Good Health to Save the Girl Child and the Fight to End HIV/AIDS by 2030’. Organizers expect a massive turnout, with over 120,000 participants joining in various distances like 5km, 10km, and 21km. Mr. Echodu’s contribution is a welcome addition to the growing support for what is recognized as one of Uganda’s most significant health awareness events.
Mr. Echodu is known for his consistent involvement in and support of such community-focused initiatives. He has a history of participating in and contributing to the Kabaka Birthday Run and other charity events that promote public health and improve community well-being. Speaking through his representatives, he reaffirmed his strong dedication to initiatives that advance public health and preserve cultural heritage. He stressed the vital importance of leaders, institutions, and communities working together to drive national progress and emphasized continued cooperation with respected cultural institutions, including the Buganda Kingdom, to achieve shared development and social goals.
