Cecilia Barbara Atim Ogwal, a prominent Member of Parliament representing the Dokolo District Women’s Constituency and former Miss Uganda, has passed away at the age of 77. Close family members confirmed that she succumbed to cancer at a hospital in India on Thursday morning.
“It is sad, Mama Cecilia Ogwal is no more, she is gone,” expressed a source, prioritizing privacy.
Parliament spokesperson Chris Obore has yet to respond to inquiries regarding this development. Ogwal, known for her impactful role in the parliamentary Committee of Physical Infrastructure and the budget committee, had been a continuous member of Uganda’s legislature since 1996.
