Amolatar District is set for a major boost! The local council has given the green light to a significant budget of UGX 32 billion for the upcoming financial year (2026/27). This substantial investment is dedicated to speeding up progress in crucial areas like health, education, roads, farming, and community support, aiming to uplift the lives of residents.
District Chairperson Geoffrey Ocen unveiled this ambitious plan during a key meeting, bringing together various local leaders and partners committed to Amolatar’s growth. He emphasized that this budget isn’t just a number; it’s a careful plan that aligns with Amolatar’s own development goals and the national government’s policies. The main aims are to uplift people economically, deliver better public services, and ensure every shilling is spent openly and honestly.
Most of this funding, a substantial UGX 30.7 billion, will come from the national government. Another UGX 682 million is expected from organizations helping with development, and Amolatar itself will contribute UGX 610 million from local income. To ensure full accountability, all money collected locally, even at the sub-county level, will be carefully tracked and reviewed by the national tax body.
The biggest shares of this budget are set aside for vital services: health, education, clean water, and community programs. Imagine the impact: new maternity and children’s wards at Amolatar Health Center IV, refurbished classrooms, new and improved toilets, and six new boreholes bringing safe water closer to communities.
Beyond direct services, the budget also ensures good leadership and safety. It will support local governing bodies, pay staff salaries and pensions, and complete important local infrastructure like sub-county council halls.
Farming, the backbone of Amolatar, also gets significant attention. Funds will support modern, climate-friendly farming methods, irrigation, training for farmers, and better connections to markets so local produce can thrive.
