A Unified Spirit and Collaborative Hands: Bishop Inspires Lira Hospital Staff to Excel Through Teamwork, Compassion, and Faith for Top-Tier Healthcare

Health workers at Lira Regional Referral Hospital have received a powerful message to embrace teamwork, professionalism, and compassion. The goal is clear: to significantly improve healthcare services and help the hospital become one of the best in Uganda.

This important call came from Bishop Emeritus Alfred Acur Okodi of West Lango Diocese during the hospital’s first-ever Prayer Breakfast. Speaking at the event, Bishop Okodi praised the staff for their dedication to patients. However, he challenged them to work more closely together to fix any gaps in the health system. He emphasized that healthcare workers have a sacred duty to restore health and save lives, using their skills to make a positive difference in communities. The bishop stressed that true progress at the hospital can only happen if doctors, nurses, administrators, and spiritual leaders all work toward a shared vision.

Echoing this message of unity, local religious leader Reverend Thomas Obong affirmed that no individual succeeds in isolation, and organizations thrive when all members collaborate effectively.

Dr. Andrew Odur, the Acting Director of Lira Regional Referral Hospital, explained that the prayer breakfast was an initiative by the hospital’s leadership. It served as a moment to thank God for achievements and to dedicate the staff to divine guidance as they prepare for new activities in the coming year. Dr. Odur highlighted that the hospital, which has served the region for over a century, has seen significant growth in its staff, facilities, and medical services. He noted that Lira Hospital is steadily moving towards becoming a top referral center in the country and urged staff to remain fully committed to delivering excellent quality care.
