Students at Nsamizi Training Institute of Social Development are set to welcome a new, highly respected leader, Lameck Ongora, who has been elected the 6th Guild President without any opposition. Ongora, a familiar voice as a Programs Manager and English news anchor at LBS Radio Dokolo, and currently a first-year Public Administration student, will lead the student body for the upcoming academic year.
His victory reflects overwhelming support from the student community. Initially, several candidates showed interest in the top student leadership role, but they later stepped aside, allowing Ongora to run unchallenged. This widespread consensus suggests a belief in his leadership capabilities and vision for the institute.
Ongora brings a wealth of experience beyond his campus studies. He is already a proven leader in his community, serving as the elected Male Councillor for Persons with Disabilities in Dokolo District Council. This public service role, combined with his media background, has given him a strong public profile and a deep understanding of community needs.
Following his declaration as the Guild President-elect, Ongora emphasized that his election is not a personal win, but a call to service and a commitment to unity. He pledged to lead with humility and accountability, promising that every student’s voice will be heard and valued. His vision includes fostering strong teamwork among students and ensuring excellent collaboration with the institute’s administration to improve student welfare.
Ongora also acknowledged the efforts of the outgoing student leadership, encouraging continued cooperation for the betterment of student governance. He is expected to officially take his oath of office on May 9, alongside other newly elected Guild Union leaders, marking the beginning of what many hope will be a transformative period for Nsamizi students.
