Nwoya District stands at a pivotal moment. The 2026 general election beckons, and with it, the opportunity to redefine our future, to restore our dignity, and to build a district where every voice is heard, and every citizen thrives. I, Apili Joy Cinderella Acellam, stand before you as a development practitioner, a staunch advocate for gender equality, and a woman of unwavering conviction, ready to serve as your Woman Member of Parliament.
My commitment to Nwoya is rooted in a deep belief in the power of unity, in the revival of true leadership, and in the pursuit of economic progress for all. This is not simply a campaign; it is a pledge to champion the aspirations of our people, to amplify their voices, and to relentlessly represent their needs.
My vision for Nwoya is one of inclusive and empowered communities, where all, especially women and other vulnerable groups, live with dignity and freedom from marginalization. I envision a district where access to opportunities and resources is equitable, driving gendered socio-economic development and creating a brighter future for all.
To achieve this vision, I will focus on the following key development priorities:
* **Education:** We will improve equal access to quality education and invest in essential infrastructure to ensure better educational outcomes for our children, equipping them with the tools they need to succeed.
* **Healthcare:** We will strengthen primary health care services and enhance access to quality healthcare, ensuring that every citizen has access to the essential medical support they need.
* **Economic Empowerment:** I am committed to promoting Women’s Economic Empowerment. This will involve extensive training, entrepreneurial support, and access to financial resources for both women and youth, fostering self-sufficiency and creating opportunities for all.
* **Agricultural Development:** We will increase agricultural productivity through training programs, improving access to vital resources, providing credit and financial support, and establishing access to broader markets for our farmers.
* **Infrastructure Development:** We will rehabilitate and expand our road network, ensuring improved access to essential services. Additionally, we will enhance access to safe water and sanitation facilities, improving the quality of life for all our communities.
* **Human Rights Promotion:** I will be a steadfast advocate for the rights of women, ensuring gender equitable socio-economic development, and striving to create a district where every citizen feels safe, respected, and valued.
