The landscape of healthcare in Amolatar District has been fundamentally transformed following a major delivery of critical medical equipment to Amolatar Health Centre IV. This significant upgrade, part of the Empowering Families, Growing Futures initiative, represents a powerful collaboration between the Rotary Clubs of Uganda, the Ministry of Health, and local district leaders. This move is designed to drastically reduce infant mortality and provide mothers with the high quality care they deserve.
This donation is far more than a simple delivery of supplies; it is a comprehensive clinical upgrade. The new suite of technology includes essential tools such as advanced baby cots, specialized chairs for kangaroo mother care, radiant warmers, and pulse oximeters. To ensure the most vulnerable infants have a fighting chance, the facility now also boasts Warm Embrace infant warmers, newborn resuscitation kits, digital thermometers, phototherapy machines, and life saving Bubble CPAP machines.
To ensure these tools provide lasting value, NICOSAM Healthcare has been brought on as a technical partner. Their role extends beyond delivery to include professional installation and intensive training for health workers. By empowering the medical staff with the skills to operate and maintain these machines, the program guarantees that the equipment will remain in peak condition to save lives for years to come.
During the official commissioning ceremony, local leaders expressed profound gratitude and a sense of renewed hope. Margret Olul, the Vice Chairperson for Amolatar District, praised the Rotary Club of Kiwatule and its partners for their unwavering support. She emphasized the responsibility of health workers to treat this equipment as a precious community asset.
Echoing this sentiment, Member of Parliament Collins Angwec described the arrival of the equipment as a deep investment in the people of Amolatar rather than a mere donation. She noted that her personal connection to the community has made her acutely aware of the healthcare struggles residents face, and she pledged to continue her advocacy for better services. This initiative complements other recent victories in the region, such as the acquisition of two ambulances to improve emergency response times.
Edward Nkanji, leading the Rotary delegation, highlighted the importance of putting the equipment to use immediately to ensure it serves its purpose.
