A Cleaner, Healthier Dokolo: RDC Urges Every Citizen to Join the Fight for Better Health and Development Through Regular Clean-ups

Dokolo’s top official, RDC Barbara Akech, recently praised local residents, security teams, and businesses for their strong turnout during the latest National Cleaning Day. She highlighted that keeping our surroundings clean is absolutely vital for improving public health and attracting new growth and opportunities to the area.

The successful clean-up, part of a national effort held on the last Saturday of each month, saw many community members actively working together. RDC Akech stressed that these regular cleaning drives are key to fighting common illnesses like cholera and diarrhea, and by removing stagnant water, we can drastically reduce mosquito breeding sites and lower malaria cases. She added that a tidy town makes Dokolo more appealing for future development, even helping it achieve ambitions like becoming a municipality.

While celebrating the great effort, Akech also noted that some challenges remain, such as ensuring everyone is aware of the monthly cleaning day and that all businesses participate. However, she expressed gratitude to everyone who took part and emphasized that a clean environment is a shared responsibility. She urged every single person in Dokolo to join in future clean-up activities, making collective action a cornerstone of a healthier, more prosperous future for the entire district.
