A Brighter Future for Pallisa and Butebo: Government Delivers Essential Building Materials and Unites Districts Under a Shared, Equitable Teso Budget for Stronger Communities

The Ugandan government, through its Ministry of Teso Affairs, has recently provided significant support to communities in Pallisa District. A total of 590 iron sheets were delivered to help two Catholic churches and one individual build and improve their structures in Kibale County.

The churches receiving this aid are St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Kibale, which received 300 iron sheets, and St. Boniface Odeperio Catholic Church, which got 250 sheets. Additionally, Mr. Michael Outa received 40 sheets. This assistance aims to strengthen local infrastructure and support community development in Eastern Uganda.

During the handover, local Member of Parliament Hon. Constantine Okwii, representing the Minister of State for Teso Affairs, emphasized that this was a direct government program designed to help citizens, not a personal donation from any politician. To further support the church projects, Hon. Okwii personally contributed UGX 500,000 to each church committee to ensure the construction work can be completed without delay.

In a major announcement, Pallisa and Butebo districts are now officially part of the Teso Sub-region for budgeting and administrative purposes. This means that these two districts will no longer have separate budget allocations but will instead be included in a single, unified budget for the entire Teso Sub-region. This important change, driven by a presidential directive, aims to ensure that resources and development plans are shared fairly across all districts within Teso, promoting more balanced growth and opportunity for everyone. This new “One Teso” budget approach promises a more coordinated and equitable future for the region.
