Maternal and newborn healthcare in Amolatar District, Uganda, has received a crucial boost with the official launch of essential medical equipment at Amolatar Health Centre IV. This significant advancement, part of the “Empowering Families, Growing Futures” initiative, promises to save lives and improve health outcomes for countless families.
The valuable medical devices were generously provided by Rotary Clubs, working hand-in-hand with the Ministry of Health and local district leaders. This effort is supported by a global grant from the Rotary Foundation, a testament to a strong partnership dedicated to enhancing maternal and newborn care across various districts.
The new equipment includes vital tools such as radiant warmers to keep newborns safe, specialized chairs for kangaroo mother care, essential resuscitation kits, and advanced machines for breathing support and phototherapy. A representative from NICOSAM Healthcare, the program’s equipment partner, confirmed that their team will not only install these devices but also provide comprehensive training for health workers and ensure ongoing maintenance. This commitment ensures that the equipment will be used safely and effectively, benefiting mothers and babies for years to come.
District Vice Chairperson Margret Olul expressed her deep gratitude to Rotary and its partners for their invaluable support to Amolatar’s health sector. She strongly urged healthcare professionals to diligently manage and maintain the new equipment, safeguarding its long-term impact on the community.
Edward Nkanji, leading the Rotary delegation, emphasized the importance of immediate use and proper care for the equipment.
