Alebtong, Uganda – A dramatic overnight operation led by Deputy Resident District Commissioner Mathias Lutwama has resulted in the arrest of a man accused of stealing 250 hoes, a valuable donation from the President. The tools, intended to benefit local communities, were recovered after a break-in at the Adwir Sub-county stores.
The swift action was prompted by vigilant residents who alerted Lutwama to suspicious activity at the stores in the early hours of the morning. Collaborating closely with the police and other security teams, Lutwama quickly launched an operation that led to the capture of Lawrence Ongom, a local resident, who was found in possession of the stolen hoes.
According to Lutwama, Ongom confessed to the theft and further claimed he was acting under the instructions of Isaac Walter Odongo, the Senior Assistant Secretary of Adwir Sub-county. Authorities have now launched a manhunt for Odongo, who is reportedly on the run.
Police have opened a case to thoroughly investigate the incident, aiming to bring all responsible parties to justice. Lutwama praised the community for their quick response, highlighting the crucial role of public vigilance in fighting crime. He encouraged citizens to continue working hand-in-hand with security agencies by providing timely information to protect government property and ensure public accountability.
