Minister Lakisa Demands Honesty and Service, Warning Corrupt Officials in Alebtong as 59,384 Hand Hoes Are Distributed to Empower Farmers and Build a Better Future

Minister Mercy Lakisa, who represents Alebtong District in Parliament, has issued a powerful warning to all political and technical leaders in the district: stop corruption now. She stressed that any government official found taking public resources for personal gain or demanding bribes from citizens meant to receive help will face immediate job loss.

This strong message came as she oversaw the distribution of 59,384 hand hoes, provided by the government through the Ministry of Agriculture, to help farmers grow more food and improve their livelihoods in Alebtong.

Minister Lakisa explained that corruption directly stops good government projects from succeeding. It prevents families from earning more money and improving their lives. She urged leaders not to let a few dishonest individuals ruin Alebtong’s reputation and hinder the delivery of vital services. Alebtong, she declared, must become an example of how a district can successfully fight corruption and ensure public officials are accountable to the people.

The Minister highlighted that openness and honest management of government projects will encourage the central government to provide even more support and development for Alebtong. She called on local councilors to actively monitor programs in their areas and report on their progress.

She also encouraged leaders to set aside their political differences, reminding them that the time for elections is over. Now is the time to work together to serve the people of Alebtong. To help with this, the district plans to create a simple way for residents to report any problems they encounter with leaders or government programs, ensuring quick action. This initiative follows reports that some leaders have been unfairly demanding money from people who were supposed to benefit from government help.
