On Saturday, TotalEnergies Pallisa emerged victorious at the Pallisa Corporate Gala, securing the championship after a thrilling final against Mbale Corporate Club. The decisive match, held at the Busitema University Pallisa Campus playground, was ultimately settled by a tense penalty shootout.
The win was a testament to the team’s unwavering commitment. Esau Kifefe, captain of TotalEnergies, confirmed that their rigorous training will continue as they prepare to represent Pallisa at the national competition in Kitgum this August, aiming to replicate their success. Fued Calvin Emutto, the TotalEnergies Pallisa Branch Manager, proudly credited the achievement to the exceptional dedication, discipline, and unity shown by every player. He highlighted the significant challenge of overcoming 25 strong teams, noting that their consistent performance – remaining undefeated with only two draws from the preliminary stages to the final – was the true secret to their triumph.
Beyond the excitement of the game, the Pallisa Corporate Gala serves a greater purpose for the community. Lazarus Okia, President of the Gala, emphasized how the event fosters fitness, entertainment, new friendships, and vital cooperation. More importantly, it has made a tangible positive impact on local lives. In 2024, funds raised by the gala enabled the purchase of tents to provide much-needed shelter for cancer patients at Pallisa General Hospital, who previously had to endure harsh conditions outdoors. Building on this spirit of giving, the 2025 event successfully used contributions from members to procure two essential beds for the hospital’s maternity ward, directly addressing a critical shortage and making a real difference.
