A prime example is the new sunflower processing facility in Apala Sub-county, an impressive investment valued at approximately one billion shillings. The government’s commitment to the next generation is evident in its massive financial support for the 76 government-aided primary schools in the district. With an annual injection of 3.3 billion shillings in capitation grants, the district has seen student enrollment skyrocket to an incredible 106,000 learners. By removing the financial barriers to learning, the government is ensuring that every child in Alebtong has the tools to build a brighter future, effectively breaking the cycle of poverty through knowledge.
Furthermore, the Parish Development Model has emerged as a revolutionary tool for financial inclusion. This program has successfully integrated thousands of ordinary citizens into the modern economy. Records show that more than 8,100 women have utilized these revolving funds to start or expand their businesses since mid-2023. Additionally, over 5,600 young people have received the financial backing necessary to excel in agriculture and livestock farming, such as piggery and goat rearing. Beyond just providing money, these initiatives have ignited a powerful shift in mindset, empowering women and youth to become the primary architects of their own success.
Health services have also seen a dramatic upgrade. All 15 government health centers in Alebtong now operate with improved infrastructure, fueled by a results-based financing model that prioritizes quality care. This focus on wellness has created a more vibrant and energetic population, with better access to both life-saving treatments and preventive medicine. With the local population growing and maturing, the district leadership is now shifting its focus toward even stricter monitoring across all 725 villages.
