A New Dawn for Public Safety as the Uganda Police Force Unleashes a Strategic Leadership Overhaul to Transform Security and Justice in the North Kyoga Region

The landscape of law enforcement in North Kyoga is undergoing a profound and necessary transformation. Under the visionary direction of Inspector General Abas Byakagaba, the Uganda Police Force has initiated a sweeping realignment of its leadership. This bold maneuver is designed to inject fresh energy into the region’s security apparatus, ensuring that justice is served more efficiently and the community remains safer than ever before. This is not merely a change in personnel; it is a strategic upgrade of the entire command structure.

At the heart of this transition is the appointment of SP Mugisa Daniel Karter, who now steps into the critical role of Regional CID Officer. Taking the baton from D/SSP Daniel Batte, who moves to the Kiira Region, Karter is now the primary architect of crime intelligence and investigations. His leadership marks a renewed commitment to dismantling criminal networks and bringing a higher level of analytical rigor to the region’s detective work. By placing an expert at the helm of investigations, the police are sending a clear message that crime will be met with sophisticated and unwavering opposition.

Professionalism is also receiving a major boost with ASP Awio Darius taking the helm of the Regional Police Standards Unit. His mission is vital: to uphold the highest levels of integrity and discipline among the men and women in uniform. This move is a direct promise to the public that the police force is dedicated to accountability and transparent service. When officers are held to the highest standards, public trust flourishes, creating a stronger bond between the community and those sworn to protect them.

The restructuring extends to the vital support and logistical systems of the force as well. SSP Twala Peter has arrived in Lira to manage the Duty Free Shop and Supermarket, succeeding SP Okalany Pius. Meanwhile, the digital and logistical backbone of the force is being modernized. SP Musega Peter has been appointed as the new Regional ICT Officer, while ASP Twinamasiko Ismail takes charge of Motor Transport. These updates ensure that officers have the technological tools and the reliable mobility required to respond to emergencies with lightning speed and precision.

Localized safety is also a top priority in this new era. In Lira City, the East and Central divisions welcome D/ASP Ayebazibwe Allan and D/ASP Munyerero Godfrey to lead their respective CID units, replacing outgoing officers who have been reassigned to other regions. On the roads, ASP Asiimwe Alex takes over traffic duties in Otuke, a move aimed at making the region’s highways safer for every traveler and pedestrian.

Patrick Jimmy Okema, the spokesperson for the North Kyoga Police, has characterized these shifts as a proactive step toward peak operational excellence. While bidding a grateful farewell to outgoing officers for their dedicated service, the force is looking forward with immense confidence. This strategic reshuffle is a clear signal of progress, promising a more secure, disciplined, and effective police force that is ready to serve the people of Uganda with absolute distinction.
