In a deeply disturbing incident of mob justice, a crowd in Dokolo, Uganda, recently stormed a police station, overpowering officers and brutally killing a 25-year-old man who was in custody. The tragic event unfolded on a Wednesday evening at the Amwoma Sub-county Police Station.

The deceased, identified as Amenyo Solomon, had been arrested on suspicion of cattle theft. He was being brought to the station by two officers from a nearby district, accompanied by people who accused him of the crime.

Upon their arrival, the officers faced questions from the station’s commander as the case had not been formally registered there. While this discussion was ongoing, a large and hostile crowd quickly formed. They surrounded the police station, throwing stones at the officers and aggressively demanding that the suspect be handed over to them.

Despite police firing warning shots in an attempt to disperse the mob, the situation spiraled out of control. The angry crowd overwhelmed the officers, seized Amenyo Solomon, and attacked him viciously with stones, logs, and bricks. He died instantly at the scene.

Authorities were immediately alerted, but by the time backup arrived, the mob had already scattered. Police have since launched a major search for those responsible for this horrific act. Two individuals, Alenga and Ocen, have been identified as suspects, among others still at large. A murder investigation has been opened, and evidence from the scene has been collected as the body was taken for examination.
