According to the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), female candidates have outshone their male counterparts, particularly in the Humanities, while maintaining lower failure rates across the board. This success is being hailed as a direct result of sustained national investment in female education and stronger school-level supervision.
The 2025 academic cycle saw a massive surge in participation, with 166,400 candidates registered—a 17.2% increase from the previous year. This growth is mirrored in the expansion of examination centers and an overall improvement in candidate completion rates. Notably, the humanities remain the most popular field of study, though Science subjects such as Mathematics, Chemistry, and Biology recorded remarkable grade improvements this year.

This year’s results also highlighted the inclusivity of the Ugandan education system, with 68 candidates from the Luzira Upper Prison successfully completing their examinations.
