A tragic incident unfolded today at Teso Progressive Secondary School (TEPA) in Ngora District when a police officer reportedly shot and killed a student during an attempted arrest.
According to preliminary reports, the police officer discharged his firearm after the student allegedly resisted arrest. In the process, the same bullet struck a teacher, hitting him in the throat. The injured teacher was immediately rushed to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital for urgent medical attention.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims as investigations continue. Police officials say a detailed statement will be issued once inquiries into the shooting are completed.
