Police Arrested Three Men in Wakiso For Possessing Narcotic Drugs Under The Cover Of Doing Charcoal Business

Police in Wakiso District have arrested three men accused of dealing in narcotic drugs after an intelligence-led operation in Kayunga Village, Gombe Parish, Wakiso Town Council.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala, the suspects were identified as James Kafeero, also known as Uncle Manda, Gasto Alioni, and Isaac Mwesigwa. They were arrested on the evening of November 12, 2025, during an operation targeting individuals reportedly selling opium to criminals within the area.

Preliminary findings revealed that the trio had been disguising themselves as charcoal traders in Kayunga Market while secretly conducting their drug business. Police recovered quantities of narcotics during the operation, which are now being held as evidence.

SP Kawala confirmed that the suspects are detained at Wakiso Police Station as investigations continue. She emphasized that the operation forms part of broader security efforts aimed at dismantling drug distribution networks and reducing crime across the Kampala Metropolitan Region.

She also urged residents to remain alert and to cooperate with security agencies by reporting any suspicious behavior in their neighborhoods.

“Our operations are ongoing. We are determined to eliminate criminal elements and restore safety in every community,” Kawala said, stressing that those involved in illegal drug trade will face strict legal consequences once investigations are concluded.
