Museveni Praises Cheptegei’s Visionary Hotel Project in Kapchorwa, Calls It a Model for Local Investment and Job Creation

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has hailed Uganda’s world champion runner Joshua Cheptegei for transforming his international earnings into meaningful local development, describing his hotel project in Kapchorwa as a true example of patriotism and productive investment.

During a campaign rally in the Sebei region, President Museveni expressed his joy after touring the ongoing construction of Cheptegei’s modern hotel in his home district of Kapchorwa. He said such investments not only inspire young people but also prove that sports can be a major contributor to Uganda’s economic growth.

“I want to thank Joshua Cheptegei for using his talent wisely. He didn’t waste his money on luxuries but instead chose to build something that will create jobs and support his community,” Museveni said.

The President emphasized that Cheptegei’s initiative reflects the government’s message on proper land use and wealth creation. He pointed out that investing in lowland areas, instead of the highlands prone to landslides, helps to enhance both safety and productivity.

Museveni noted that the project will provide employment opportunities for residents of Kapchorwa and also promote tourism in the Sebei region. He said Cheptegei’s vision aligns with Uganda’s broader goal of encouraging citizens to invest locally to boost regional development.

Cheptegei’s new hotel is expected to attract both local and international tourists visiting eastern Uganda, bringing new life to the local economy and motivating other Ugandans to channel their success into projects that uplift their home communities.

President Museveni’s remarks come at a time when the government continues to promote local investment as a key path toward self-reliance, wealth creation, and rural transformation.
