KIRYANDONGO DISTRICT — Barely hours after the horrific Wednesday night accident that claimed 46 lives, another fatal road crash has occurred along the Gulu–Kampala highway, leaving four people dead near Mukwano Gate in Kiryandongo.
According to preliminary reports, the latest collision happened Wednesday noon , just a short distance from the scene of the previous incident
Local authorities and rescue teams rushed to the scene to recover bodies and transport the injured to nearby health facilities. Police have since cordoned off the area as investigations continue to determine the exact cause of the accident.
Residents have expressed shock and fear, describing the stretch of the highway as “a death trap” following the two consecutive crashes in less than 24 hours. They are now urging the government and transport officials to intensify road safety enforcement and install warning signs along the dangerous section.
By press time, the identities of the victims were yet to be released as families were being notified.
