President Yoweri Museveni has returned to the Ma’di Sub-region to strengthen his political base and remind citizens to protect the progress achieved under his leadership. His latest visit is part of his ongoing campaign trail across Moyo, Adjumani, and Obongi districts.
The President is expected to address a major rally at Paridi Stadium in Adjumani Town Council this morning before heading to Amuru District later in the afternoon. His campaign activities in the region are centered on encouraging people to preserve the gains made under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government while pushing for greater development and transformation.
During his earlier visits to Obongi and Moyo districts on October 17, 2025, Museveni emphasized that peace and stability achieved over the years must not be taken for granted. He highlighted that his administration is committed to expanding infrastructure, boosting the rural economy, and promoting social services to improve people’s lives.
As excitement builds in Adjumani, residents have voiced their expectations, calling for concrete solutions to long-standing challenges. Many locals want the President to address issues such as the unresolved Apaa land conflict, the delayed construction of the Laropi Bridge, unstable power supply, and compensation for victims of past wars. They also want clarity on the eviction of Balaalo herders and more attention to be given to poverty reduction, education, health, and environmental conservation.
Florence Awizia, a trader at Adjumani Main Market, said people appreciate the new roads and health facilities but need the government to end the Apaa land dispute that has caused fear and division. “We want the President to offer a permanent solution because this land problem affects our businesses and peace,” she said.
Youth in the district are also looking forward to the President’s message on employment and entrepreneurship. Peter Asilaza, a youth from Pakele Town, expressed hope that Museveni’s visit will bring renewed focus on youth empowerment. “Many young people here are struggling without jobs. We hope the President will talk about ways to support youth enterprises and practical skills training so we can contribute to national growth,” he noted.
Educators have also joined in calling for faster development in key sectors. Martin Duluga, a teacher from Dzaipi Sub-county, said the delayed Laropi Bridge project and frequent power outages are major barriers to progress. “The bridge is crucial for business and transport between districts, while stable electricity is needed for schools, health centers, and local industries,” he said.
Despite the concerns, the Ma’di Sub-region has remained loyal to the NRM government, consistently supporting the party in past elections. Analysts believe Museveni’s return aims to reassure supporters and strengthen public confidence in his leadership ahead of the 2026 general elections.
NRM mobilizers in Adjumani have spent the past few days rallying residents to attend the rally in large numbers. According to Museveni’s campaign team, the President’s speeches in Adjumani and Amuru will focus on continuity, economic empowerment, and community resilience — the core pillars of his re-election message.
Residents are hopeful that this visit will not only reinforce the region’s support for the NRM but also inspire real action on the promises that matter most to their everyday lives.
