Fake IGG Auditor Robs Dokolo Petrol Station of Six Million Shillings in Broad Daylight

Residents of Dokolo Town were left in shock after a daring robbery at Dokolo Oil Company Limited on Monday morning. A man pretending to be an official from the Inspector General of Government (IGG) office reportedly made off with six million shillings after holding the station manager at gunpoint.

The incident happened at around 9:00 a.m. when the suspect confidently entered the petrol station, introducing himself as an IGG auditor conducting an inspection. Because of his calm and professional behavior, the staff did not suspect that anything was wrong.

According to the company’s Managing Director, John Baptist Okello Okello, who also serves as the Chairperson of the Dokolo District Service Commission, the man was allowed into the manager’s office without any resistance. Once inside, he overpowered the manager and stole the cash before escaping.

The petrol station manager, identified as Benard Olila, narrated that he had welcomed the supposed government official into his office when the situation suddenly turned violent. The man drew a pistol, ordered him to keep quiet, and tied him up using masking tape. He then threatened to shoot Olila if he raised an alarm. After taking about six million shillings, the robber locked the manager inside and fled the scene.

A few minutes later, other employees discovered the manager tied up and in shock. They quickly alerted the police, who arrived and began investigations. Dokolo District Police Commander, Patience Baganzi, confirmed the robbery and described it as a well-planned and bold act. She said statements had been taken from witnesses, including the security guard and the pump attendants who were on duty at the time.

Baganzi advised business owners in the district to strengthen their security systems, especially by installing CCTV cameras and confirming the identity of anyone claiming to be a government officer before granting them access to offices or restricted areas.

The robbery has raised concern among business owners in Dokolo, who fear that such incidents could damage public trust and threaten business growth in the area. Police are still hunting for the suspect, and no arrests have been made yet.

Authorities have assured the public that all efforts are being made to track down and apprehend the suspect responsible for this daring daylight robbery.
