President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has promised to tarmac the Dokolo–Amolatar road and increase funding for development programs in the Lango Subregion. He made this announcement while speaking at a large gathering at Dokolo Technical School.
Museveni, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate for the 2026 elections, reminded residents of his achievements since taking office in 1986—highlighting peace, improved security, electricity expansion, and road infrastructure such as Soroti–Lira–Kamdini and Rwenkunye–Lira–Puranga.
He pledged to also improve roads including Dokolo–Ochero–Amolatar, Lira–Alebtong–Otuke, and Bobi–Loro. Additionally, if re-elected, he said each parish would receive UGX 15 million under the Parish Development Model (PDM) to boost local economies.
The President encouraged people in Dokolo to engage in commercial farming and other money-making ventures, warning that relying on subsistence farming would keep families in poverty. He shared the success story of an engineer from Amolatar who earns UGX 480 million annually after adopting commercial agriculture.
Museveni warned against misusing government funds, saying those found guilty should be arrested. He also urged communities to consider fish farming instead of cultivating wetlands and stressed the importance of restocking cattle, noting that cultural leaders have supported giving each household five cows.
During the event, Museveni officially gave NRM party flags to Joseph Jones Ogwal Omara (Dokolo North), Felix Okot Ogong (Dokolo South), James Otoo Apili (District Chairperson), and Janet Adongo Elau (District Woman MP).
Parliament Speaker Anita Among, who attended the rally, praised the President’s efforts in maintaining peace and improving roads, and urged Dokolo residents to vote for Museveni in 2026.
NRM’s District Chairperson Geoffrey Opio Ekong promised that over 85% of Dokolo votes would go to Museveni. Government Chief Whip Denis Hamson Obua emphasized that peace, development, and wealth creation—Museveni’s main campaign pillars—can only be delivered under his leadership.
Dokolo North candidate Ogwal Omara spoke about poor education outcomes in the district, with only 1% of learners completing school beyond primary level. He suggested vocational training and land protection measures to help local communities. He also expressed confidence in winning his seat and helping Museveni get over 90% of votes in Dokolo North.
Museveni had earlier campaigned in Amolatar and was scheduled to visit Otuke and Alebtong on October 2, Apac and Kwania on October 3, Kole and Lira on October 6, and Oyam on October 7 before heading to West Nile.
