Uganda’s first son and Chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has appointed regional Coordinators for Kigezi, Acholi, Tooro, Greater Arua, Ankole, and Rwenzori.
Gen. Muhoozi, a Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations and former Commander of the UPDF Land Forces and Special Forces Command (SFC), made these appointments shortly after rebranding the MK Movement to the Patriotic League of Uganda.
The newly appointed leaders are:
- Mr. Nshangabasheija Nelson, Coordinator for Kigezi
- Hon. Ojara Martin Mapenduzi, Coordinator for Acholi
- Owekitinisa Henry Basaliza, Coordinator for Tooro Sub-region
- Hon. Jackson Atima, Coordinator for Greater Arua
- Mr. Tabaro Didas Tumwesigye, Deputy Coordinator for Ankole
- Hon. Godfrey Kabyanga, Coordinator for Rwenzori
- Mr. Kajojo Sam Arinaitwe, Deputy Coordinator for Kigezi
- Mr. Katwiire Polly Karamuzi, Spokesperson for Ankole
- Ms. Walemba Joyce Daphine, Women Representative for Rwenzori
The PLU aims to consolidate support for Gen. Muhoozi’s potential presidential bid. At the launch event, attended by numerous members of parliament and supporters, it was announced that the PLU will focus on fighting corruption, conserving the environment, and encouraging civic engagement among Ugandans to maintain social cohesion.
