A local election in Uganda’s Oyam District was thrown into severe disorder, forcing police to fire live warning shots into the air. This alarming event took place during the LC2 chairperson election in Bar Parish, which is part of Abok Sub-county. Authorities explained that this drastic action was necessary to break up a chaotic crowd. The individuals targeted were suspected of being unqualified to vote and were allegedly trying to participate illegally, causing significant disruption to the democratic process.
